Project Brief
Task: My sister was getting married. To the bachelorette party, each bridesmaid was tasked to bring a game. As a younger sister, I wanted to gift her an experience she and her friends would remember. Inspired by a game found online, I developed my own version of it.
Goal: A mobile application that would push players out of their comfort zones to create long lasting memories.
Methods: Built on Bubble.io, a no-code app developer.
Game Concept
The game player’s flow:
Each player would need their own bingo card, each square filled with a task.
A player could choose the whatever path to bingo they pleased.
To fulfill a task, players would need to capture and upload an image of them completing the task.
The first person to get five in a row, won.
The final result was a card collection of captured memories.

Bingo Card Prototype
I tested various designs of the bingo card itself. Testing the look of an empty card and a filled card in Canva.
In deciding what tasks I would include, I asked a small set of questions to my sister about her and her friends' comfort levels and partying history.

Building
I had always wanted to develop an application on my own. This was a chance to do so without a large learning curve. Bubble.io allowed me to do this! I started with video tutorials first, then went straight to development.
The UI flows weren’t super complex, so I moved from quick UI sketches to development.
Outcomes
Presenting the game excited the girls! They found it creative, cute, and fun.
We played and had a wonderful night.
There was a winner at the end of the night. She was presented the “Party MVP” award accompanied by a golden, glittery trophy I made myself. You may see this trophy upon request!
The app used in real time led to new ideas of improving the experience, such as allowing each player to see the photos posted by other players in their view.
Learnings
User research is paramount in driving design. I conducted minimal user research - specifically asking my sister a couple questions about her friends’ comfort levels. It turned out the bachelorettes were seasoned partiers, making the dares seem like those for an amateur!
During our night out the bachelorettes used the application, but it was difficult, even for myself , to remember I was playing a game on my phone. We had our phones out often to take videos, but the time it took to upload a photo while out having fun was a task we took up only in the early night.
I learned how to use Bubble.io and grew my knowledge in databases and data structures.
